French and English immersion programmes

Chantemerle’s immersion programme is designed to offer a true boarding school experience while giving students the opportunity to learn and practise a new language in an immersive environment.

In this programme, students live and study alongside peers enrolled for the full academic year, allowing them to fully integrate into daily school life. We work closely with each student’s school back home to ensure continuity of studies and coverage of required subjects, so there is no need to repeat the year.

Focus of the programme is on language immersion, French and English or a combination of both; German courses are also available. Beyond academics, the programme includes a wide range of sports, outdoor activities, and cultural excursions, allowing students to practise the language in real contexts, and in winter, they enjoy skiing in the Swiss Alps—combining language learning with an active and unforgettable experience.

Thanks to our small, family-style setting, each student quickly feels at home and settles in with ease, whatever the time of arrival.

French language immersion programme

The French immersion programme at Chantemerle offers students a fully immersive environment to learn French through daily life, structured lessons, and constant interaction within a Swiss boarding school setting.

It prepares students for official DELF exams, with small classes and personalised support to ensure rapid progress and confidence building. Students can also study non-linguistic subjects in French, including science, history, geography, and an advanced Swiss track in mathematics and physics.

The programme often provides a strong foundation for integration into the long-term Swiss Matura pathway, allowing a smooth transition into a full Swiss curriculum.

English language immersion programmes

Chantemerle also proposes an English immersion programme.

This programme is proposed to students interested in gaining confidence in English. The programme also prepares students for internationally recognised Cambridge English Language ESL qualifications. Teaching is adapted to individual levels, with small classes and close support to strengthen communication skills, accuracy, and confidence across all areas of the language.

Based on the Cambridge curriculum, students also have the opportunity to follow selected non-linguistic subjects in English, such as biology or chemistry, economics or computer sciences. This combination supports academic progress while reinforcing language acquisition in real contexts.

The programme often provides a strong foundation for integration into the long-term Cambridge International programme preparing for the IGCSE / A level qualifications.

After-school adventures & sport activities

At Chantemerle, learning continues well after class. Our Study Abroad students enjoy a rich variety of after-school activities that promote balance, well-being, and personal growth.

From team sports and creative workshops to outdoor adventures, every student can discover new passions or deepen existing ones. Students looking to train more seriously, can join one of our professional swiss league clubs and academies in football, tennis, golf, horseback riding, and more.

In Winter, our unique location near the Swiss Alps (local resorts : (Portes du Soleil, Villars, Zermatt) gives students access to skiing and snowboarding, with regular outings in the mountains.
