Founded in 1966 by Mathilde and Jean Wegmüller, Chantemerle is a private, international boarding school located in Switzerland. Our school welcomes Swiss and international students ages 6 to 18 for academic school year, French immersion as well as for Summer programmes.
Chantemerle school is like Switzerland: traditional, personalized and efficient. Over the years, we have developed a unique educational model centered around a healthy and balanced lifestyle, core values and the culture of effort.
Beautifully located in nature, overlooking Lake Geneva and close to Vevey, Montreux, Fribourg, Lausanne and Geneva, Chantemerle offers a healthy and structured environment where children are happy to study and grow.

Swiss pathway (Swiss Matura)
The right diploma for the right university
Chantemerle proposes the Swiss academic curriculum from primary school to high school.
Investing in a Swiss education is always considered wise. The Swiss Federal Matura Diploma is the only diploma that gives automatic access to Swiss universities. Swiss universities are highly reputable and accessible at very low fees when compared to universities in the UK or the US. The Swiss Matura diploma is also very well recognized internationally, in the US and in the UK.
The Matura is primarily taught in French, emphasizing proficiency in the French language. However, the programme is also open to international students who are new to French; they learn French intensively in our French immersion programme and prepare for the bilingual (French/English) option of the Matura.

Cambridge International pathway (IGCSE / A-Levels)
A sound alternative to the IB diploma
Accredited by the Cambridge International Examination Board, Chantemerle offers an international programme in English. The programme starts at age 11 in lower secondary. Upper secondary prepares students for the IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) followed that can be followed by A-Level qualifications.
Students can also join this pathway for one semester or one year as part of an English immersion programme.
The Cambridge International programme is particularly well suited to athletes or performing artists who need the flexibility to follow intensive training and take part in top-level competitions without falling behind in their studies.

Chantemerle welcomes Swiss and international students as 5-day or 7-day boarders.
Living away from home provides invaluable opportunities for personal growth. At Chantemerle, students learn to live together in a spirit of community and shared family values. They are taught skills that are essential and useful for life. When they leave Chantemerle, our students keep into their adult life the spirit of solidarity and strong sense of friendship that characterizes our school.
A day school solution for local families
Chantemerle also welcomes day students from Blonay, Vevey, Châtel St Denis, Montreux, Aigle and the region. Starting at age of 5, our students are looked after on site at the school.
The programme includes lessons, accompanied study, extra-curricular activities and delicious hot meals. We propose a flexible timetable from 07:30 to 18:30 with a shuttle service to Montreux, Vevey and Blonay.
French immersion programmes

Residential Sport and Study programmes
Live your passion and make your dreams come true
Chantemerle welcomes students athletes who practice sports at a high level, while pursuing an official academic programme preparing either for the Swiss Matura or the Cambridge IGCSE/A level.
Currently, Chantemerle follows elite students in ski, football, basketball, tennis, ice-hockey, golf and horse riding.
Summer camp 2024
A camp to learn, discover and have fun
From 30 June to 4 August 2024, Chantemerle welcomes students from all over the world to learn a new language, discover Switzerland and have fun.
Our summer programme includes a rich programme of sports, art and outdoor activities as well as a 2-day trip to Europa-park in Germany and overnight camping under the stars. Real sport enthusiasts can also choose to enroll in one of our professional sport academies (football, basketball, tennis, golf and horse riding).
