Chantemerle offers a high-quality Swiss education, guided by the rigorous and caring approach of its founders, Mathilde and Jean Wegmüller.
Chantemerle's limited number of students creates an exclusive community, allowing for individualised support and care.
Chantemerle’s small-scale independent school structure enables focused teaching and strong academic results at a fair price.
Founded and run by the Wegmüller family since 1966, Chantemerle is a private international boarding school in Switzerland welcoming students aged 6 to 18 for academic year, language immersion, and summer programmes.
Rooted in authentic Swiss values, the school offers a high quality education in a personalized family environment. Using simplicity as our guiding principle, we teach students the value of balance, well-being, and the culture of effort.
Beautifully located overlooking Lake Geneva, spreads across two complementary campuses in Blonay and Vevey, near Montreux, and Lausanne, Chantemerle offers an ideal environment for both academic and personal development.
The Swiss Pathway at Chantemerle offers a continuous journey from primary through secondary education to the Swiss Matura diploma preparation.
Taught in French, the Matura is a prestigious diploma that provides direct access to Swiss public universities without entrance exams (e.g. EPFL, ETHZ, HEC St-Gallen, medical schools). The diploma is also very well recognised internationally. While most of our students are Swiss, the Matura pathway is also open to international, non French speaking students through our French integration programme.
Accredited by the Cambridge International Examination Board, Chantemerle prepares students for the IGCSE and A Levels qualifications in English.
The Swiss Matura diploma and A Levels are both internationally recognised qualifications, but they differ in language, structure and approach. While the Matura is a broad, general education diploma taught in French, A Level certifications are taught in English and follow a more specialised model, where students focus on 3–4 subjects in greater depth.
Intentionally small, with a small community of 45 boarding and 55 day students, we ensure personalized attention and individual care for every student.
At Chantemerle, students grow within a close-knit community, building lasting friendships and a true sense of belonging that continues through an active alumni network.
At Chantemerle, we believe children grow and thrive best in simplicity. Daily life is structured around a balance of academics, hands-on activities, life skills, sports, arts, and outdoor activities, with close support for each student’s progress and well-being.
Chantemerle also offers tailored short and long term language immersion programmes. Studying abroad in Switzerland for one month to one year comes with great opportunities:
2 to 5-week sessions between June 28th and August 2nd 2026: Chantemerle propose a summer programme combining a very popular learning programme with academics, sports, outdoor activities, and discovery of Switzerland.
With only 65 students, our summer camp is known for its family atmosphere and personalised support. The programme promotes healthy, balanced living, with limited screen time and plenty of opportunities for sports, arts, outdoor experiences.
