Boarding school life at Chantemerle
Growing together in a caring community
Boarding school life
With an international community of 45 boarders, Chantemerle offers a unique experience in a healthy, family-like, and personalized environment.
Boarding life at Chantemerle is both a place to live and a place to learn. At Chantemerle, students find a space to slow down, disconnect, and regain balance. Through simple, practical daily routines, as well as through sports and outdoor activities, children and adolescents build self-confidence, balance and autonomy.
Boarding life also provides valuable opportunities for personal growth. At Chantemerle, students learn to live together with a spirit of solidarity and respect. When they leave Chantemerle, our graduates carry forward into adulthood the sense of friendship and community that defines our school.
A healthy family-like community
A personalised and structured boarding environment
Students stay in comfortable rooms of 2 to 3, enjoy balanced, home-style meals prepared with fresh, seasonal ingredients, and follow simple community rules that promote well-being. The weekly schedule is carefully structured, balancing academics with sports, arts, practical activities, excursions, and cultural visits. Digital well-being is also prioritised, with limited screen time to encourage focus, balance, and meaningful interactions.
This personalised and structured boarding environment allows each student to grow with confidence, develop independence, and fully engage in both their academic and personal journey.
The power of simplicity in education
The School of Life programme at Chantemerle
At Chantemerle, we are convinced that a child grows and develops best in simplicity.
For us, simplicity means teaching simple daily routines that help students manage their time, organise their personal space and take care of themselves. At Chantemerle, students develop practical intelligence through hands-on activities. Building, repairing, cooking, gardening or using real tools teaches patience, creativity and perseverance.
Fully integrated into the school curriculum, the School of Life supports academic performance by strengthening self confidence, attention and perseverance—essential skills for a sustainable learning.
In a world increasingly shaped by screens and artificial intelligence, the School of Life programme helps students build a healthy, conscious, and balanced relationship with the world.
A balanced environment for mind and body
Personal Development: Movement, Art, and Nature
Through sports, artistic, and cultural activities, our students develop essential values and life skills. Their personal development is further enriched through museum visits, cultural outings, and active involvement in the local community. These experiences broaden their horizons and strengthen their sense of engagement and openness to the world.
The sports traditionally offered at Chantemerle include Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, archery, swimming, running, and team sports. Wednesday afternoons are dedicated to hands-on and outdoor activities, while Friday afternoons focus on visual and performing arts.
Through its sport-art-study programme Chantemerle also supports the integration of young talents into league clubs and artistic academies. Students benefit from tailored schedules that allow them to train regularly and participate in official competitions with Swiss licenses, while continuing their academic studies :
