Cambridge IGCSE – One year pathway at Chantemerle
Cambridge IGCSE – A Broad and Balanced Curriculum in English
Is your child bilingual with a B1 level in English? Why not offer them the opportunity to take the internationally recognized International GCSE ? The IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) is based on the UK GCSE programme, but is tailored to a more internationally orientated group of students.
IGCSEs is the most popular international qualification in the world for 14-16 year olds. It is suitable for learners whose first language is not English. It provides both clear evidence of a bilingual education and excellent language skills. Whether your child chooses to continue their studies towards the IB Diploma or A levels, we believe that the IGCSE programme is the ideal springboard for advanced study in English.
At Chantemerle, the IGCSE programme is offered in 1 or 2 years and covers the following subjects: (for more information)
Three levels are covered by the diploma : English as 1st language designed for learners whose first language is English. English as 2nd language is for learners who already have a working knowledge of the language, English (as an additional language) enables learners to develop practical language skills and build their confidence in communicating in English.

Other classes available
In addition, students will have the possibility to have classes in Arts, Computers and Sport.
An essential subject for all learners, Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics encourages the development of mathematical knowledge as a key life skill, and as a strong basis for more advanced study. The syllabus covers numbers and algebra, shape and space, probability and statistics.
Business Studies syllabus develops learners’ understanding of business activity in the public and private sectors, and the importance of innovation and change.
